Seoul (8-12.07.2008)

Again some professional duties (again a conference) brought Soldado de Guea to South Korea, more exactly to the capital Seoul were he would spend (in theory) 7 days. The reality is that on the stop-and-go of Frankfurt the overbooking forced the soldier to stay in Frankfurt for a night and fly the next day. That, of course, with a nice monetary compensation and a payed hotel. The night in Frankfurt was used to visit some old friends from Bremen (old in the sense that they were in Bremen a while ago, nothing to do with their age ;) ).

This is the area of the COEX center, a huge shopping and business area where the conference was held.

We did some sightseeing over there ('we' since my friend and colleague Carlos was also at the conference). This is the Gyeongbokgung palace (built as a tribute to the permanent happiness and prosperity of Korea's kings).

Here you see the Bibimbap, the most typical korean dish. It is composed of rice, vegetables, meat and a raw egg on top (everything with a bit of chili pepper paste :) ).

Insadong is a very insteresting shopping street.

I had the impression that there are many people in Seoul ...

Some views of Seoul

And just to mention again the reason of the trip, here some pictures of the banquet dinner offered by the organisation of the conference on the last day.

And a last picture from the airport of Seoul and the stewardesses (beautiful and elegant). As a curiosity that i've never seen before, when they call for boarding, they all bow at the same time to the passengers.
